Pakistan Engineers Forum (PEF) organized a Symposium on Nov 30’ 2013 titled ‘Cyber and Mobile Security’. The event will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Doha. Cyber and mobile security is an increasingly critical necessity for world business and present society. We live in a world where information technology and associated communications' networks and services affect every aspect of our lives. This makes the protection of our digital assets and activities in cyberspace of serious magnitude, whether individually or as a society. But the challenge to understand cyber risk and deliver effective and accessible security becomes harder as technology continues to evolve briskly and our systems become more and more complex. A recent example of such security breaches was seen in the GCC where various organizations suffered due to these attacks affecting productivity and bringing businesses to a standstill. Multi-million dollar losses were suffered due to these attacks. Recognizing the urgent need for creative thought leading to the next generation of cyber security capability, PEF has invited renowned professionals working in Qatar to discuss the issue and offer insights on latest developments and challenges facing this issue. The speakers for the program: 1st Lieutenant Yasser Ali Al-Malik, a Qatar University Graduate, from Information Security Centre (ISC), where he plays a leading role in Information Security Management Systems and Operational Procedures. Lt. Al-Malik has long list of distinctions both in field and in leadership roles. Dr. Ryan Riley who is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Qatar University and received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Purdue University, Indiana, USA. His main research interests are operating systems and security. Dr. Junaid Chaudhry who is an affiliate academician, and a Consultant at Certified Professional at the Ministry of Interior, MoI at the state of Qatar. His specialization is in Research and Analysis (R&A) of both network and application centric products.
